Blepharospasm, or involuntary eyelid twitching, can be more than just an annoyance. For some of my patients, the constant blinking and tension around the eyes interfere with reading, driving, and everyday activities.
Botox is one of the most effective treatments for this condition. During the procedure, we apply a light antiseptic to the skin around the eyes and administer several very small injections on a very low dose, into the muscles responsible for the spasms. The treatment is highly targeted and personalized depending on the severity and muscle involvement.
No numbing cream is needed, because the needle is very fine, and the sensation is mild. Most of my patients describe it as a light pinch. After the session, they return to their routine, including work or errands, with no downtime. Improvements usually begin within a few days and last several months.
One client who works as a teacher told me she used to struggle getting through a lesson because of her eye spasms. Since starting Botox, she’s regained her confidence and classroom control.
